CU Boulder Today featured a wonderful story on our recent work on hemodynamics and its role in stroke for heart failure patients treated with a Left Ventricular Assist Device or LVAD! We are using hemodynamic analysis to understand why some people on LVAD support experience a stroke while others do not, and develop ways to use this information to improve LVAD therapy for heart failure. We continue to build upon this work through ongoing research at University of Colorado Boulder College of Engineering & Applied Science and UW Medicine + Heart Institute.

A huge thank you also to CU Boulder Today for helping get some really nice photographs of our lab, Pictured here (as well as in the article) is one of the snaps that captured some (arguably candid!) moments in the lab.

This work was made possible through many hours of brainstorming with our collaborator Jay Pal (whose support and expertise has been pivotal) and an interdisciplinary team effort with contributions from Akshita Sahni (who initiated this work in FLOWLab), Dr. Sreeparna Majee, Kelly Cao, and Erin McIntyre. My team and I also thank Amber Carlson for working with us on this story at CU Boulder Today. Lastly, we are grateful for research support from The National Institutes of Health, and the CU AB Nexus program.
